National Geographic Traveler magazine revealed this week the 2018 Best of the World, its annual list of the 21 must-see destinations to visit in the year ahead. Traveler editors selected their top picks for places in three key categories- Cities, Culture, and Nature. Number one on the list: Harar, Ethiopia. Calling it the “most surprising city in East Africa”, the magazine wrote “The “City of Saints” boasts 82 mosques, as well as Ethiopia’s best beer, strongest khat (an ubiquitous narcotic plant), and highest quality coffee.” Ethiopian Airlines offers daily domestic service from Addis Ababa (ADD) to two airports in the region of Harar, Dire Dawa (DIR) and Jijiga (JIJ).
