Set to take place 31st March 2018, TEDxBend is pleased to announce the lineup for their 7th annual event which will include Praveen Moman of Volcanoes Safaris as a speaker about why conservation has to make economic sense in post-conflict zones. At the forefront of reviving mountain gorilla tourism in Rwanda and Uganda, Praveen founded Volcanoes Safaris in 1997.
Under his guiding vision, it has become a leading travel company with four of Africa’s most unique lodges near the great ape parks: Virunga, Mount Gahinga, Bwindi, and Kyambura. The luxury lodges are sensitive to local culture and aesthetics, the post-conflict context and the need to use resources responsibly. Local people have been trained and empowered to run and manage the lodges. The intrinsic link and balance between the community, conservation of the mountain gorilla and luxury tourism is evident is Praveen’s ethos and success in his sustainable development and investment in the region.
