For those who don’t have a lot of time in their itinerary or who want to add a gorilla trek to their regular safari, Adventure Consults offers a “Weekend Getaway to the Gorillas.”

Day 1: Entebbe to Bwindi

Meet an Adventure Consults’ representative either at airport or your hotel and proceed to the domestic check-in point for your bush flight to Bwindi (departures from Entebbe at 7:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.).

After arrival at Kihihi airstrip and a briefing from your guide, it’s around an hour’s drive to Buhoma with stops along the way for photography and interactions with the local communities.

Lunch at the lodge of your choice. Optional evening village walk visiting local schools, hospitals and craft shops. Meals and accommodation at a local lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Early morning transfer to the gorilla sanctuary. Explore the beautiful rainforest with its lush, dense landscape, crisscrossed by animal trails. Time taken and terrain covered depends on the movement of the fascinating gorillas, but tracking normally takes three to 10 hours.

Gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it’s an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact with each other. Return to the lodge in the afternoon. Meals and overnight at your lodge.

Day 3: Scenic flight back to Entebbe

After breakfast, proceed to Kihihi airstrip in time for your 9:45 a.m. flight, arriving at Entebbe International Airport at 11:25 a.m.

Depending on the weather, you may have the best views of the Uganda’s volcanoes, villages and lakes during your flight. Connect to your onward international flight or whatever the next step of your journey may be. Flights from Entebbe should be scheduled for after 1 p.m.

We recommend the following options for accommodation:

Upscale (“Lion Range”): Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, Bwindi Lodge, Buhoma Lodge or Clouds Lodge.
Moderate (“Pride Range”): Silverback Lodge or Mahogany Springs.
