Machaba Safaris is set to open two new luxury safari camps in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.

Deteema Springs Camp will open on May 1. The eight tents include a family tent, with children aged over six welcome. Tents are smaller than Machaba’s traditional tents, with facilities including hot and cold running water, flush toilets and decks.

A tented communal area on a deck, swimming pool with loungers, and library with views over the springs completes the camp area.

The camp is near the Deteema dam in the north-west of the park. This area is known for its large concentrations of animals, including elephants, and, due to the year-round availability of water, it teems with wildlife and is ideal for walking and game drives.

Deka Camp will open on June 1, in the far north-west of the park, and is a 40-minute game drive from Robin’s airstrip. It is situated on a low hill overlooking the Deka Seeps, which are the headwaters of the Deka River that flows east to the Zambezi.

The six tents are constructed of thatch and canvas, and accommodate a maximum of 12 guests. Facilities will include a plunge pool, thatched main area, and a library.

Units are compact but offer all necessary facilities, including hot and cold running water, flush toilets, comfortable beds with luxury linen, and beautiful views.

Both camps can be accessed by land or air transfer.
