The Duke of Sussex is in Angola as part of a wider ten-day tour with his family, taking in South Africa, Botswana and Malawi. Unlike these other countries, Angola rarely features on travellers’ wish lists. So are we missing something?

For clarity, Prince Harry is not visiting Angola for tourism. It was in Huambo in 1997 that his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, was famously photographed in full protective gear, visiting a minefield that was being cleared by The HALO Trust. Twenty-two years later, is following in his mother’s footsteps to raise awareness of Angola’s ongoing landmine issue, in support of the Landmine Free 2025 campaign. This is a campaign to re-energise global support for landmine clearance to ensure that the 60 million people across 62 countries affected by landmines are not forgotten.
