Recently Lylie Moolman, at Giltedge, hosted a FAM trip in South Africa for travel advisors. We chat to her about travel during Covid, Brody the rescue dog, leopard sightings and her favourite luxury lodge.

Who did you travel with?

I travelled in a secure “bubble” of 5 people in total. I was joined by 4 travel agents from Texas, Indianapolis and Seattle. Three out of the agents had never been to South Africa, so it was wonderful to see our beautiful country through their eyes. All Covid-19 tests had been done before arrival and we felt safe to travel in our bubble.

What activities did you get up to while in Cape Town?

The Cape Sidecar Tour was the highlight! Each sidecar allows for 2 guests, one on the back of the bike behind the driver and one in the sidecar. It is a fun way to experience Cape Town, with a few stops along the way. I would recommend at least 2 hours to a half-day on the sidecars and, if possible, try to get “Brody”, the rescue dog, to come for the ride – he gets lots of attention and loves every minute!

Our activities also included time spent at Cape Point where Escape & Explore set up an activity area with stand up paddle-boards, bats and balls, beach umbrellas and a gorgeous picnic!
