On Friday, 29 July 2022, Rwanda updated its entry and exit requirements.

International travellers arriving and departing Kigali International Airport no longer require COVID-19 testing.

“Relaxing the arrival and departure process makes visiting Rwanda so much easier”, comments Kristin McGee from Travulous. “Travellers still need to remember to check the COVID-19 protocols for their airline, destination, or transit countries as they may have different rules for passengers to follow”.

For tourists visiting Volcanoes, Nyungwe and Gishwati-Mukura National Parks for primate-related activities, a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours is essential. When not participating in primate-related activities, or when visiting Akagera National Park, a rapid-antigen test (taken within 72 hours) is sufficient.

Testing remains accessible across the country, with rapid tests currently costing USD 5 per person and PCR tests costing USD 50 per person.
