Kenya has revised its COVID-19 travel regulations, removing the requirement for all travellers entering the country to show proof of either vaccination or a pre-departure COVID-19 test, with effect from May 9.

Now, only travellers arriving at any port of entry into Kenya with flu-like symptoms will be required to fill the passenger locator form on the ‘jitenge’ platform.

They will also be required to take a COVID-19 antigen test upon arrival at their own cost. Those who test positive will be required to take a further COVID-19 PCR test at their own cost. Those with severe symptoms shall thereafter be allowed to isolate as per the prevailing isolation requirements for mild, moderate and severe disease.

The rate of COVID-19 infection has been reducing in Kenya over the past few months from a weekly average of 2.5% in mid-January to a weekly average of 0.5% at the end of April.
