Jim Holden is a third generation African, born in Zambia, high school Zimbabwe, college South Africa and five years Regional Managing Director, Abercrombie & Kent for East Africa.  Jim is also an American citizen, first arriving in New Jersey, relocating to Chicago and currently Newport Beach, California.
After stints as President of long established tour operators, Travcoa and African Travel, Jim started Holden Safaris, designing custom safaris for individuals and small groups.

Jim sees Travel Advisors as the client’s advocates, sourcing the most knowledgeable and competent safari specialist to design their client’s safari, with Jim’s aim to make them shine for their client.  Holden Safaris will spend however long it takes, to design a safari that meets client expectations of price, accommodation and experience. And Jim will monitor the safari in progress, ensuring all goes according to plan.

Jim travels to Africa, three to four times per year, for updates on lodges, and to maintain relationships with partners.

EcoTraining is the largest guide training company on the African continent.  In addition to certified training classes for guides, EcoTraining offers several short courses for people who want a more in-depth immersive experience in the African bush.

Jane just returned from visiting 4 of their camps in South Africa and Botswana.and can’t wait to tell you about them.
