Columbus Mabika reports on AllAfrica.com that South African Minister of Tourism, Mr Derek Hanekom, will officially open this year’s edition of Sanganai/Hlanganani – World Tourism Expo, to be held in Harare from June 18-21st.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Walter Mzembi, has confirmed that his South African counterpart will formally open the three-day expo. “We have invited Mr Hanekom, the South African tourism minister, to open the Sanganai/Hlanganani expo in June,” he announced. “We share a lot of interests in tourism with South Africa, so we considered it wise to partner and work together. Therefore, he will be here to show us how it has been handled in his country.”
Minister Mzembi explained that South Africa was still a major source market. “South Africa is not our competitor in the tourism business but our chief market source in Africa. This collaboration will transcend the dominance of these two nations in the tourism industry,” he said. “This co-operation will help re-brand and re-position Zimbabwe’s tourism business, which has declined due to negative media reports.”
The expo, the minister added, will offer a lot of business and networking opportunities.
