Online hotel-booking company, Jovago, has partnered with Safarilink, a regional airline based in Nairobi, to customise packages for tourists. Jovago explained that the partnership was designed for tourists who are visiting different destinations within Kenya and that the model will offer travellers ready-made packages which include flight fares, airport transfers and accommodation throughout their stay.
“This is even more important as product competitiveness and rivalry intensifies throughout the region,” said Nafisa Fazal, head of marketing for Jovago, east and southern Africa. “Creating convenience and consistency will go a long way, as both are major drivers in the sector, added the Head of Marketing for Jovago.com East and Southern Africa.” Nafisa explained that the partnership hinges on the importance and recognition which e-commerce is gathering in the virtual world.
Jovago pointed out that the partnership was bolstered by reports in the past five years, pointing to growth in online hotel bookings, with a 73% rise in revenue. It also places the total annual number of hotel bookings on the internet at 148.3 million, generating a corresponding increase in car rentals, travel research and review.
