Renowned for its exceptional levels of service and customer experience, the exclusive Sanctuary Chief’s Camp is consistently rated as one of the top safari camps in Botswana. It is located on Chief’s Island in the Mombo Concession of the famous Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, an area known as the ‘predator capital of Africa’. Adding the new pavilions is a significant investment and construction is scheduled to take place from 9 January 2016 (during which time the camp will be closed). The exciting new-look camp will re-open to guests on 1 June 2016. Existing bush pavilions will be re-built and the size of all twelve pavilions will increase significantly from 51 sqm to 141 sqm, making them some of the largest in the area. The pavilions will be furnished with handmade furniture and will feature air-conditioning, as well as a traditional fan. Each pavilion will include new features, such as a private dining area from where elephants, giraffes, buffalo and other wildlife can be seen. The in-room experience has also been enhanced with the addition of a Nespresso coffee machine in each pavilion. The pavilions will feature a tranquil outside seating area and a terrace plunge pool -– perfect for observing the surrounding plains and majestic African skies. New bathrooms will offer a spacious outdoor shower, a large bath tub, beautiful floor to ceiling windows and folding glass doors with a stunning outlook over the surrounding waters of the Okavango Delta. All the main and public areas of the camp are being extensively refurbished in a ‘safari chic’ style including a newly-designed bar and library area, the extension of the dining room and the addition of a pizza deck with pizza oven. A new orientation room, where guests can learn more about the Delta before going on game drives, will be added, as well as a gym and fully-equipped kids play room.
