Jenman African Safaris’ first tour in a series of many, has been certified by Fair Trade Tourism. As tourists become more eco-conscious,travel companies and tour operators are starting to change their game plan.
The company philosophy at our Cape Town headquarters is about making a difference through the small things we do. We have a worm farm, recycle glass and paper, re-use printed paper as scrap paper, use spring water in our water fountain, etc. We are now applying our – very small-scale – company philosophy to our tours as well.
As Africa’s leading responsible tourism organization, Fair Trade Tourism certification signifies our dedication as a company to operating sustainably and respecting the human rights, cultures and environments we visit. We are now approved to sell Fair Trade holidays and committed to the Fair Trade code of conduct.
Fair Trade Tourism is a non-profit organization, which is leading the way forward in the development of sustainable and responsible tourism in southern Africa and beyond. It promotes awareness about responsible tourism to travellers, assisting tourism businesses to operate more sustainably and facilitating the Fair Trade Tourism certification program across southern Africa. The Fair Trade Tourism label stands for fair wages and working conditions, fair purchasing and operations, equitable distribution of benefits and respect for human rights, culture and the environment. It also ensures that the people who contribute their land, resources, labour and knowledge to tourism are the ones who reap the benefits
