AirVentures Balloon Safaris and An African Anthology have launched hot air ballooning in the Chobe region in Botswana.
The operation, managed by AirVentures, will be based at Elephant Valley Lodge within the Kasane Forest, but the activity is also available to guests at other camps in the region.
AirVentures offers balloon safaris over the vast Seloko Plains concession.
The safaris last for an hour, can accommodate up to eight guests, and will operate from May 1 to September 15.
The Seloko Plains, situated south of Kasane, are an important wildlife corridor, extending from Zimbabwe to join up with the Chobe National Park and the Kasane Forest Reserve.
“Based on the success of a hot air balloon safari offering at the Kadizora Camp in the Okavango Delta in Botswana for the past four years, we decided to extend operations into the Chobe,” said Chris Anagnostellis, CEO of An African Anthology.
“We have seen increased demand for bucket list activities and soft adventure activities over the years… and the exclusivity of the balloon flying in such a remote region offers the most incredible game viewing from the air,” said Anagostellis.
On landing, guests are treated to sparkling wine and orange juice. The pilot presents commemorative flight certificates to the guests who are then transferred to the five-star Kazuma Camp for breakfast.
