The historic town of Zomba in southern Malawi is ready to be the backdrop of the second Zomba City Festival from April 29 to May 2.
Venues will offer entertainment for all ages at various lodges and public spaces. There will be arts and culture, sports and kids’ activities spread throughout the town, including ‘Art in the Park’, a food fair in the Botanic Gardens and live music at Pakachere Lodge, plus yoga, theatre, poetry, hiking, and more.
“People often overlook Zomba as a destination, when it has so much to offer. That is one of the reasons we thought the festival was a great way to put the city on the map again,” said Annelies de Bruine, one of the organisers, when creating the festival in 2021.
Visitors will have a range of options to experience, safe in the knowledge that no venue will be overcrowded, with the majority of events taking place outdoors and introducing extra measures for the safety of attendees due to COVID-19 regulations.
The Zomba City Festival is organised by Zomba Arts Platform, a not-for-profit business supporting and enhancing the creative sector in Malawi.
VIP packages are available, and include a welcome cocktail, coffee tasting, a voucher for Pakachere Backpackers Lodge, access to VIP lounges, shuttle service, artist meet-and-greet, fashion show VIP seating, mountain bike or golf class, SIM card, access to nearby swimming pool, and more for MK100 000 (€110) per person.
