International Airports, local Airstrips, hotels and resorts will will get busy again after over two years of no much travel. Commonly Asked Questions in relation to Covid travel guidelines to Uganda
1. What are the requirements/ process for arriving passengers into Uganda?
- Fully vaccinated travelers to Uganda, do not need to carry out any tests prior their travel. Proof of vaccination is required at all entry points.
- Passengers with partial or no vaccination, are required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours from the time of sample collection to boarding aircraft leaving country of origin. Note that the only acceptable results are those issued by accredited labs to carry out tests for travel as recommended by respective governments/country of origin.
- Unvaccinated children below 5 years are exempted from the COVID-19 PCR test.
2. Does one need to carry out another test upon arrival in Uganda?
- No, you are not required to carry out Covid-19 test upon arrival at Entebbe international Airport. This is irrespective of whether one is vaccinated or not.
3. What are the requirements for departing passengers out of Uganda?
- Fully vaccinated travelers exiting Uganda, do not need to carry out any tests prior their travel. Note that you will be required to show proof of full vaccination.
- In case the destination country or airline requirements defer, they take priority. It’s therefore important to understand, and interpret COVID-19 requirements of the country you are traveling to.
- Passengers with partial or no vaccination departing out of Uganda, must have an authentic negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours from the time of sample collection to boarding aircraft.
- None vaccinated children below 5 years are exempted from the COVID-19 PCR test on departure (subject to the destination requirements).

1. What are the requirements/ process for arriving passengers into Rwanda?
- Arriving passengers at Kigali International Airport must present a negative Rapid Test taken 72 hours prior to departure country of origin. This is irrespective of vaccination status.
- COVID-19 Test is not mandatory for accompanied children under 5 years.
- All travelers arriving and transiting in Rwanda must complete the passenger locator form and upload the Covid-19 Rapid test certificate taken within 72 hours before heading to the airport. Please see passenger locator form on rbc.gov.rw.
2. Does one need to carry out another test upon arrival in Rwanda?
- An additional rapid test will be taken upon arrival at own cost. The turnaround time for results is within 24 hours from the time a sample is collected.
3. What are the requirements before visiting National parks in Rwanda?
- All visitors, including children, visiting the National Parks will be required to present negative antigen rapid COVID-19 test results taken within 72 hours. This is only acceptable when not intending to visit primates.
- A negative RT-PCR test result is required if visiting primates (Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Golden Monkeys etc) in Volcanoes, Nyungwe, and Gishwati-Mukura National Park.
4. What are the requirements for departing passengers out of Rwanda?
- Departing passengers at Kigali International Airport must present a negative Rapid or PCR test (depending on requirement at destination) taken 72 hours prior to departure.
