Avani Hotels and Resorts is constantly reinforcing its commitment towards environmental, social and cultural conservation. Around the world, they work in partnership with local communities and promote cultural awareness among guests by integrating indigenous cultures into everyday experiences.

Special consideration is given to employing and empowering communities, and wherever possible, sustainable products and services are sourced locally.

The consumption of single-use plastic water bottles at Avani Victoria Falls is 148,000 annually. They are working with Vivreau to reduce this by placing sealed glass water bottles in all rooms each day and doing away with as many of the plastic water bottles as possible.

Avani is training all staff in proper recycling techniques to ensure that everyone understands the benefits. A two-bin system is being implemented for easier recycling. Proper food segregation will increase the amount of waste usable for compost and in the resort’s worm garden, which in turn is used to enrich the herb and vegetable garden.

Meanwhile, the resort’s parent company (Minor Hotels Zambia) supports the LivingstoneCentral Hospital in many different ways. Recently, they supplied a new freezer and storage shelves, and are in the process of installing mosquito net frames onto 305 hospital beds.

Those are just a few of the ways that Avani is making a different at Victoria Falls and beyond.
