Roots and Journeys is expanding its accommodation offering with the addition of four new adventure camps: Chora, Ngonti, Guda, and Manju, complementing their existing portfolio. These camps, designed to have minimal environmental impact, will welcome guests from March 1.

Chora and Ngonti are situated within the Mababe River Private Reserve, while Guda and Manju are located in the Okavango Delta.

Each of these camps offers eight en-suite Meru tents, providing comfortable accommodation for two guests in each tent. The tents boast basic amenities and stunning views of the surrounding wilderness, with options for larger groups available through adjoining camp sites.

Guests can participate in a range of nature-based activities, including game drives, bush walks, boat cruises, and cultural visits. The camps aim to provide a serene environment for guests to connect with nature while respecting the delicate balance of the ecosystem.

The camps operate with limited power, utilising lanterns and solar lights.

Roots and Journeys welcome children aged 12 and above to their camps, offering families the opportunity to create lasting memories together. Access to the camps is facilitated through nearby airstrips, with transfers by boat ensuring a seamless transition into the heart of the wilderness.

Activities at the camps include various nature-based experiences. Chora and Ngonti are situated in prime wildlife areas. Included in the rate are two experiences per day, such as game drives, bush walks, and optional cultural visits for Chora, and game drives and bush walks for Ngonti.

Guda and Manju Adventure Camps are surrounded by water. Included in the rate are two experiences per day, such as boat cruises, fishing, mokoro trips, nature walks, or cultural visits to nearby villages. Additionally, helicopter flights can be arranged at an additional fee, offering scenic flights over the Delta combined with visits to local communities or other exciting experiences such as Elephant Havens.

To access Chora and Ngonti adventure camps, flights from Maun to the Khwai airstrip take 35 minutes, and from Kasane, 55 minutes. Guests will then be transferred for a 1-hour 30-minute journey to Chora and a 2-hour journey to Ngonti.

For Guda and Manju, flights from Maun to Mopiri Airstrip take 35 minutes, and from Kasane, 1 hour 25 minutes. From the airstrip, guests are transferred by boat to the adventure camps. The boat transfer from Mopiri airstrip to Guda takes about an hour, and to Manju about three hours.
