Ethiopian Airlines has announced the launch of a thrice-weekly passenger service to Freetown, Sierra Leone, via Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, starting from May 31.

The new service will be operated by a Boeing 787-800.

The flight schedule is as follows:

  • Flight ET 943 from Addis Ababa (ADD) to Freetown (FNA) via Ouagadougou (OUA) will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
  • Flight ET 942 from Freetown to Addis Abba via Ouagadougou will operate on Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays.

Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tasew, said: “This new route will not only provide our passengers with more options for travel, but also facilitate increased tourism, trade and investment opportunities between Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso. As we continue to grow and connect with more destinations, we are committed to fostering co-operation and partnership between our countries.”

Freetown is a major port city on the Atlantic Ocean and the largest city in Sierra Leone, a country known for its natural beauty and diverse wildlife.
