The Sun City Hotel will undergo a complete upgrade of all 340 rooms, bedroom corridors, bedroom terraces and the Sun Terrace beginning in August.
The refurbishment, which will be carried out in phases, is set to be completed in November 2026.
The first 67 renovated rooms will be ready by the end of November, just in time for the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Julius Ramotse, General Manager of Hospitality at Sun City told Tourism Update that the refurbishment of the hotel will cost R350 million (€17.9m).
“Paying homage to the rich Tswana culture and the unique surrounds of Sun City, the new Sun City Hotel interiors combine comfort with craft in creating a uniquely African experience,” said Ryan Illgner, director of Blacksmith Africa Interior Inspiration.
In addition to the refurbishments, Sun City Resort is set to open its new R8m (€409 700) Padel facilities at the end of July.
The four open Padel courts will be available daily from 06h00 to 23h00 and are equipped with lighting for night-time play. The facilities will also comprise a reception area, ablution facilities, a pro shop and a food and beverage area.
Visitors can book courts at R450 (€23) per hour for four players, excluding equipment and balls, through the Playtomic app. Bookings can also be made via their hotel rooms, MVG cards, or at the Padel court’s point of sale.
