He takes the reins from Nicky Fitzgerald who will remain close to the business as a shareholder and board member.
Wendover and his family are deeply embedded in Africa: his son grew up in Madagascar, daughter in Uganda and he and his wife have childhood roots in Africa. He believes the world’s wild spaces and neighbouring communities deserve sincere and determined attention.
“Angama has a wonderful business model, investing in audacious locations and building partnerships with local landowners for long-term sustainable preservation and generational wealth creation for community members beyond our lifetime.”
Wendover brings a wealth of experience in remote building and management operations. He grew up in rural Nigeria in the 80s, spent eight months with soldiers from the Afghanistan National Army in the Helmand Valley in 2008, served as GM of luxury island hospitality operations in Madagascar, spent time in the jungles of Belize and Brunei, ran a business in Uganda and travelled extensively through Asia. He refers to himself as “an ever-curious adventurer always dreaming of what comes next”.
Aligned with the board’s growth strategy through the Angama model, Wendover is keen to serve more communities, delight more guests and support conservation efforts across other countries. The brand is poised for expansion by offering guests immersive experiences in spectacular settings, showcasing their love of Africa.
Wendover says: “Leading the Angama team is a privilege and one that I cherish sincerely.”
Chairman of the board Wolfgang Neumann adds: “On behalf of the board and all our team members, I extend a very warm welcome to Rosco. We are excited to have an established leader on our team and look forward to working with him, building on Angama’s unique foundation.”
