AFRICAN Sun Limited has completed the highly anticipated restoration and full refurbishment of its flagship Hwange Safari Lodge on the border of Hwange National Park. Work on the overhaul began in March, under the group’s broader programme to refurbish several properties to align with modern global trends.
The refreshed lodge features 99 rooms, including 85 Deluxe Rooms, 10 Deluxe Suites and four Executive Suites. A modern gym and spa – the first in the lodge’s 50-year history – have been introduced to cater for the growing demand for wellness safari experiences.
The atrium, restrooms, bar, restaurant and reception area have been extensively redesigned. These refreshed areas complement the lodge’s modern conferencing and banqueting facilities.
“We are incredibly proud to unveil the new-generation Hwange Safari Lodge,” said African Sun CEO, Laurie Ward. “This significant investment reflects our dedication to uplifting properties and providing guests with unforgettable experiences. The lodge now offers the perfect blend of safari and comfort, setting the stage for exceptional moments in the heart of one of Africa’s most precious wildernesses.”
Each of the lodge’s rooms offers sweeping views of the surrounding grasslands and a nearby waterhole, often frequented by impala, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and elephants.
Activities at the lodge include morning, day and night game drives and full-day game drives in the national park; bush dinners; and tours of local attractions including the Painted Dog Rehabilitation and Conservation Centre, the Iganyana Crafts Centre and a traditional village. The lodge is a two-hour drive from Victoria Falls.
