Award-winning Travaleur Group today announces the launch of Drive Into The Wild and its one-of-a-kind specialist expeditions, for intrepid travellers to discover the beauty of East Africa’s stunning landscapes and national parks, many of which do not feature on the typical tourist itineraries. The idea for Drive Into The Wild was born in 2003, when Richard Pfäffli, Co-founder of the Travaleur Group, drove his expedition-equipped 4×4 vehicle from London to Cape Town and back to London. Visiting more than 25 countries throughout the African continent, this trip formed the inspiration for Drive Into The Wild. Fast-forward 20+ years, and Richard and his partner Kristin live in East Africa running their business together. Over the years they have completed several overland trips, exploring and fine-tuning the best expedition routes to discover the region’s prime wildlife hotspots and avoiding the crowds commonly found on the more frequented tourism circuits.
‘When discovering the sights and sounds of East Africa with us, you will not be travelling in a stretched safari vehicle alongside up to 6 other passengers and your driver guide. You will also not be rushing at high speed from one destination to the other via helicopter or bush plane, thus missing out on seeing East Africa’s great outdoors and meeting the friendly locals who call the region their home’. says Richard. ‘Instead, you will have your own modern 4×4 vehicle which you can either drive yourself escorted or un-escorted from lodge to lodge, or to our very own authentic tented camps. Some customers opt for the best of both, choosing a combination of lodges and our mobile camps’ says Kristin.
