Essence of Africa, Africa’s International Buyer Forum, is a private sector-led initiative designed to connect international buyers with African tourism suppliers. The event features pre-scheduled meetings, networking events, thought-provoking seminars, and educational experiences in the destination, providing a comprehensive platform for business development and collaboration.
The successful inaugural event in Nairobi in 2024 brought together over 360 tourism professionals from 37 countries, connecting 130 top producing buyers with 125 African exhibiting companies through more than 4,200 scheduled meetings.

This year’s forum marks an exciting new chapter as it becomes officially aligned with two major pan-African tourism events: the Magical Kenya Tourism Expo (MKTE) in Nairobi (October 1–3) and Essence of Africa in Malindi (October 7–9). These three interconnected events offer a unique opportunity for North American buyers and African suppliers to build meaningful connections across the continent—all in one seamless trip.
After three days of immersive programming in Arusha—including adventure excursions, expert panels, and APTA Connect networking sessions—delegates can participate in one of many post-Forum FAM trips (details to be announced soon). From there, you’ll be perfectly positioned to continue on to MKTE, Essence of Africa, or both!
