A new mountain biking and e-biking route through the buffer zones of the greater Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania has opened.
Operated by Leonotis Adventures’ Lake Natron Camp, the “Ride the Serengeti” itinerary is a five-day, four-night, point-to-point cycling programme for small groups.
The guided trail connects Klein’s Camp area in the north (Klein’s, Lobo, Kogatende and Lamai) to the southern regions (Olduvai, Ndutu and Ngorongoro), traversing communal land outside the park’s official boundaries.
The itinerary includes camping at remote, privately accessed sites where fees contribute to local community development. According to the operators, this format provides more immersive and active exploration while reducing reliance on flights and vehicles.
A hiking extension via the “Footsteps of Mankind” route is also available.
