Cape Town – Commuters travelling between Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek to Cape Town know of the tedious congestion along the Muizenberg mile, where road works have been ongoing for the past couple of years.
Thankfully, the road works are now a thing of the past, leaving only the beautifully-renovated historic mile along this coastline.

Apart from rehabilitating Main Road, the City of Cape Town has refurbished walkways, parking areas and access routes to one of False Bay’s most popular beach havens, well in time for the summer holidays.
The sidewalks along this stretch of Main Road, also called the ‘historical mile’, have been red-brick-paved where they meander under the colonnades of historic buildings, dating from the late 1890’s, when mine magnates travelled by train from Johannesburg to the Muizenberg Station for the summer holidays.
Today still, many holiday-makers enjoy travelling to these coastal towns by train. Following the renovations, they will be able to access the three interlinking towns of Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek more easily.
