Botswana’s Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, Conservation and Tourism has announced a mandatory Tourism Development Levy (TDL) to raise funds for conservation and national tourism development, support the growth of the industry, broaden the tourism base, and improve the lives of the people of Botswana.
As from the 1st of June 2017, with the exception of residents and citizens of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states, visitors will pay USD30.00 (US Dollars) in cash, or by debit or credit card. A unique receipt, corresponding with the passport, will be generated automatically. This is to be presented to Immigration Officials. The passport and receipt will be stamped and handed back to the traveller and the receipt will be valid for a 30-day period and can be used for multiple entry.
