Encompassing mistbelt grasslands, thornveld and river frontage, Babanango Game Reserve is a bush lover’s paradise, and where the adventurous come to experience all things safari. This rich area harbors abundant game species including buffalo, giraffe, hyena, zebra, several antelope, and the elusive aardvark and aardwolf. Rhino and buffalo have recently been introduced to the reserve, with the remainder of the big five soon to be introduced.
Babanango Game Reserve is the largest conservation project of its kind over the last 30 years. Over 75% of the land is leased from the communities – which means that this partnership is one that empowers its people. The African Habitat Conservancy Foundation was founded as a means to assist and serve the immediate communities around the reserve, and truly is the heart of the reserve.
