Luxury conservation brand Singita has announced two upcoming, purpose-driven running events designed to blend adventure, conservation and female empowerment in East Africa.
In February 2027, Singita will partner with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to host the Ubumwe Women’s Trail in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. The multi-day, all-women event combines trail running with a guided gorilla trek and a hike to the original Karisoke Research Centre, where Fossey conducted her pioneering gorilla research before her death in 1985. Participants will be based at Singita Kwitonda Lodge, located on a 72-hectare concession bordering the park, with sweeping views of the Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura volcanoes. The lodge offers nine one-bedroom suites and two two-bedroom suites. Also on the property is the exclusive-use, four-bedroom Kataza House, featuring expansive living and dining areas, an interactive kitchen, cinema room, cellar, massage treatment room and fitness centre.
Later this year, from October 23–29, 2026, Singita will host the ninth annual Serengeti Girls’ Run within its private concession in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. The multi-stage, all-women event covers 21km per day across Singita Grumeti’s 350,000-hectare wilderness area. Guests will also enjoy daily guided evening game drives. Proceeds support girls’ empowerment initiatives through the Grumeti Fund’s “Safaris with a Purpose” programme, alongside broader community and conservation efforts including career fairs for local high-school girls, an anti-poaching K9 unit and ecological research programmes. Participants will stay at Singita Sabora Tented Camp, which features nine tented suites with private meditation decks, in-room pantry and dining areas, and outdoor salas.
Together, these experiences underscore Singita’s continued commitment to conservation, community engagement and transformative, women-led travel in Africa.
