Malawi Department of Tourism, a division of the Malawian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, has appointed American consultancy CornerSun Destination Marketing as their agency of record in North America.
CornerSun will be focusing on crafting a market-entry strategy for Malawi that primarily measures the opportunity in the market and establishes presence for Malawi in North America alongside other African destinations that have flourished in recent years, such as South Africa.
Renowned for the friendliness of its people, Malawi is known as the Warm Heart of Africa. This relatively little-known gem has much to offer including wildlife, culture, adventure, scenery, and of course the enormous Lake Malawi. A year-round destination, many consider it the most attractive country in sub- Saharan Africa.
Malawi’s tourism has witnessed unprecedented development in recent years. New lodges have opened and existing hotels and lodges have been enlarged and upgraded. The tourism infrastructure remains small in scale but high in quality. New public-private partnerships have safeguarded the future of the country’s wildlife through conservation initiatives and re-stocking programs while simultaneously improving the safari experience. All this combined with new investments in local infrastructure have made Malawi the continent’s #1 emerging tourism destination.
