The National Heritage Council of Namibia has announced the reopening of heritage sites under its direct management.
All sites reopened on June 20 except the Brandberg Mountain National Heritage Site, which will open on June 29.
Namibia’s State of Emergency continues with eased restrictive measures and COVID-19 regulations will be observed at the heritage sites, such as wearing of face masks.
The following sites are now open:
- Twyfelfontein World Heritage Site
- Petrified Forest National Heritage Site
- Hoba Meteorite National Heritage Site
- Heroes Acre National Heritage Site
- Burnt Mountain National Heritage Site
- Zieben Platten National Heritage Site
- Lake Otjikoto National Heritage Site
- Eenhana Shire National Heritage Site
- Ondeshifilwa National Heritage Site
- Organ Pipes National Heritage Site
- Omugulugwoombashe National Heritage Site
In other news, Air Namibia continues to suspend all international flights until August 31. According to a Facebook post by Air Namibia Deutschland, travellers who want to consider a ticket price credit can now do so for all originally planned departures until December 31. The validity of the credit is 12 months from the original flight date.
