In the first weekend of March, 2024 the Minister of Tourism – Honorable Rodney Sikumba, officiated at the re-opening of Ila Safari Lodge, which now features a new boma area and villa, Ila Safari House.

The Minister congratulated the proprietor of Ila Safari Lodge for the job well done, and noted that the developments at the Lodge stand out as a testament to the power of sustainable practices, reminding everyone that responsible tourism can contribute positively to enhancing the co-existence of human life with the natural world. He urged management and staff at the lodge to continue being a shining example of promoting sustainable tourism in the region as a way of demonstrating their commitment to eco-tourism practices.

The Safari Lodge had been closed since June 2023 when its Ila Boma building which was one of the first buildings of the Lodge was gutted by fire. The building had since been reconstructed, hence the re-opening of the lodge for resumption of safaris and other tourism activities, including, amongst others, electric game drives and river cruises highlighting silent safari experiences.

Ila Safari Lodge is one of the Green Safari Lodge’s based in Kafue National Park in Zambia. The Kafue National Park is one of the largest National Parks in Zambia and one of Africa’s biggest game sanctuaries covering 22,500 square kilometers. The Kafue River and its tributaries contribute to the diversity of the landscapes.
