Central African Wilderness Safaris are pleased to announce that on this morning of July 22nd 2015, the Government of the Republic of Malawi officially handed over the management of Liwonde National Park and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve to the non-profit organization, African Parks.
Chris Badger, Managing Director of Central African Wilderness Safaris, stated: “We (CAWS) have worked for many years in partnership with DNPW to try and manage this incredible region of pristine wilderness. It is always difficult for a country like Malawi, which has such limited resources, to meet the demands of protecting such a vast area. With the arrival of African Parks, we should now be able to create an environment in Liwonde National Park that will help conserve its incredibly diverse flora and fauna, offer incentives for private sector involvement – thus bringing increased revenues for DNPW – while simultaneously improving the livelihoods of communities living on the outskirts of the park”.
