A new eco-lodge is under construction in Maputo National Park and is on track to open in December.
Tourism Manager of the park, Hélsio Azevedo, said the lodge was yet to be officially named and would offer 72 beds, including 24 chalets and self-catering units as well as a beach-front restaurant. There will also be a campsite with eight spaces with bathroom and kitchen facilities.
Activities will include guided walking safaris, fishing, surfing and cultural tours.
Azevedo said the lodge was being constructed with the environment in mind, disturbing as little of the natural vegetation as possible.
The lodge is owned and managed by a partnership between Peace Parks Foundation and Mozambique’s National Administration for Conservation Areas.
